The Divine Foods Founder Kiru Maikapillai, with Director Vignesh Shivan and Jawan Superstar Nayanthara (L to R)

Serendipity is one of my favourite words and I am always in search of stories about serendipity. You can read the story of “The Divine Foods” here

Recently I came across the story of Chennai based startup, “The Divine Foods” and its Founder, Kiru Maikapillai, a powerful story of serendipity, and how to invite serendipity in your life. Here are 5 powerful lessons from the story:-

Lesson 1- Create serendipity by meeting more people

To increase the chances of serendipity, travel and meet more people.

How Kiru met Vignesh is nothing short of serendipitous. Interestingly, Kiru met Vignesh at a parking lot, and gave him a sample of his flagship product.

Lesson 2- Ask with confidence

Ask with confidence, and you will receive.

Several months later, Vignesh mentioned the product on social media and inquired about the founder. A meeting at Vignesh’s residence happened soon, where Kiru posed the question with confidence, “Would you like to invest in the food tech startup?” The answer was obviously in affirmative.

Lesson 3- If you are creating social impact, you will find support from the Universe

Your mission will attract the right people, though it may take time.

Soon Vignesh announced on social media, that Nayanthara and he are delighted to join forces with ‘The Divine Foods’ and are proud to bring traditional Tamil Nadu foods to households. The startup philosophy of “Let Food be thy medicine,” focusing on promoting superfoods and health foods to combat rising health issues caught the attention of the couple.

In fact, Kiru had turned down a job offer from a leading investment bank in the United States to follow his passion for improving the income of farmers and the health of Indians.

Lesson 4- You never know when you will find the right match

It goes without saying, “Your values must match the values of the investors.”

Vignesh’s reputation as a proactive professional aligns well with Kiru Maikapillai’s action-oriented approach as the Founder of ‘The Divine Foods.’ Vignesh shared on social media, “We have a strategic plan, and it’s called doing things,” emphasizing their commitment to making a real impact.

Lesson 5- The Universe Loves Gratitude

If you feel heartfelt gratitude for life’s blessings, life will bless you even more.

Kiru shared on social media, “We are happy to welcome Vignesh and Nayanthara to “The Divine Foods” family as investors and partners. We are working on a critical cause of improving the health of Indians, and getting support of the generous couple will certainly increase our social impact as well as growth manifold.” Notably, the company has already achieved US FDA approval in a remarkably short period.

Conclusion

Kiru has become a source of inspiration for India’s startup ecosystem, especially among the youth and millennials. He left his comfort zone to serve a greater purpose, and this resonated with Vignesh and Nayanthara, who chose to support a small startup based on its social impact and health-oriented mission.
